teachin' english to kids

 There are these cute friend's daughters whom I'm giving english classes from the last year.
 I don't think I'm a great teacher but they happen to like the way I teach them, we have fun together and they learn pretty well. Their names are Amanda (8) and Sofía (sofy, 10).

Sofy

Sofy is a great atudent, her brain's just like a sponge. She likes so much english and she just want to learn as much as possible and now xD she's proactive and most of the time suggests activities and homework and has a remarkable ability in speaking and pronounciation. 

Amanda

Despite Amanda is two years younger and sometimes it takes her a bit more time to understand vocabulary, she is a clever, creative girl. She always have fun of something in the class and makes a relation between what she is learning and something else she already knows.

Both of them are good, intelligent kids, they really enjoy our classes and I think that's the main incentive for me to continue teaching them.

As  they  like animals and in order to capture their atention, our first class was about jungle and we saw a video called "Jingle jungle monkey" from CBBC's web page. I remember I used the word 'banana' to teach them the english vowel "schwa" xD there's still an echo inside my head of our voices repeating "banana, banana" lol, We've also worked with vocabulary cards, worksheets, games, quizes and stuff. 

May be it is thanks to these girls that I at least realized the love for teaching inside of me xP of course I know I must be a down-to-earth person, not all kids are disposed to learn like Amanda and Sofy are, but I still want to give it a try, to prove myself  I can be a good teacher. And to pass on not just knowledge, but also values and share my experiences and view of life.

And why am I talking to you about it? Cause today we started our summer classes, I was so nervous, this is the first time I give this kind of classes and they are suposed to be more funny and interactive than regular ones. I choosed the "The lion and the mouse" tail u.u but it didn't go that funny... swt, there was too much vocabulary to go through <.< Anyway, the next class we'll watch this video about the story:

O.k., this is harder than I expected <.< , may be because it's the first time I write in my own Blog. Besides, english isn't my native language so it's a bit more difficult to process things before writting them =P
...
Well, lets focus xD How about introducing myself before anything else?

As I menctioned before, english isn't my first language, I'm from Chile, in Southamerica, and I speak spanish. However, I'm currently studying translation english-spanish and japanese-spanish, so I thought it would be more interesting writting a Blog this way. Who knows, in the future some entries in japanese could also appear here =P

What else can I tell you about me? Well, I don't like just japanese language, I'm also a big fan of some mangakas like Clamp, Toriyama Akira and so on so forth. Now I'm reading XxxHolic, it's nice :3 I liked so much Yuuko's character that I began drawing her in my room's wall. Well, actually this isn't the first Clamp's character I draw in my room, there's also Sue -from Clover- and this little rabitt-dressed-like doll -from Chobits-. My intention is drawing as much Clamp's characters I can in my room =P I'll upload a picture next time.

I've also just ended reading Dragon Ball Z manga ¬.¬U yes, I know it's old, but when I was a child they prohibed me watching "violent" shows and cartoons (lol). So, as you can imagine, there was no other option  to me that looking for it in internet now that I'm "an adult" and I can read whatever I want xD 

Anyway, I think it was better to me reading it now, I'm in love with Vegeta  *O* and being a child, the story couldn't be as interesting and funny as I think this is now.

But, as opposed to the two paragraphs before can make you think, my life's not just an otaku's life =P I also give classes in sunday school, play keyboard and I'm learning capoeira (the brazilian martial art) xP I'm a potpourri with different tastes, but it's fine. I like being this way cause it's a chance to meet and know different people and cultures.

So, douzo yoroshiku ^^ (nice to meet you) for those who will pass and read this blog. I'll be very grateful of you posting here. Of course I hope we can share interesting things and have fun.
